How Long Do I Need to Wear ClearCorrect™ Retainers?

After you finish the ClearCorrect™ treatment, you’ll need to wear retainers that will keep your new smile in place. Retainers are crucial to prevent your teeth from returning to their original, crooked places. The duration of wear depends on the individual’s needs, but typically you’ll need to wear the retainers all day and night for the first few months, just as you did with the aligners. After a while, Dr. Kostrzewski will determine when you can transition to wearing the retainers just at night.

How long does the entire ClearCorrect™ treatment take?

Treatment length varies, but on average, it ranges from 12 to 24 months. The complexity of your case with determine the length, as well as how diligent you are about wearing your aligners and keeping up with your oral hygiene.

You’ll want to wear your aligners about 22 hours a day. The best rule to follow is to only remove your aligners for meal times or special events. Just make sure you put them back in afterward!

Some people may notice a slight lisp initially, but this typically goes away as you get used to the aligners.

It’s recommended to remove your aligners while eating or drinking anything other than water. Clear aligners are not designed to endure chewing or biting.

Clean them regularly with a soft toothbrush and water, avoiding hot temperatures that could warp the plastic.
